The following year, after "the Maelstrom" and six years after "Laura" Otto Preminger was again made a solid Noir.
The story of the police officer who trying to hide malfeasance is caught up in cases of organized crime, perfectly fits in the aesthetics of film Noir. Wrong here, as good — it all guilty. Have all your reasons, principles and weak.
Otto Preminger perfectly conveyed the atmosphere of "sin city" filled with intrigue, lies, deceit and unfulfilled childhood dreams. The reincarnation of the Duo of gene Tierney and Dana Andrews only enhances the interest in film.
Think it was inspiration for many police officers of militants, including the "Bad COP" and"Fireworks" Takeshi Kitano, "Snitch" by Melville, "Bad Lieutenant" Abel Ferrara.
In summary: stylish Noir with Danai Andrews and gene Tierney in the title role. All a bit predictable, but it — not plot and style, which creates Otto Preminger.
