The following year, after "the Maelstrom" and six years after "Laura" Otto Preminger was again made a solid Noir.

The story of the police officer who trying to hide malfeasance is caught up in cases of organized crime, perfectly fits in the aesthetics of film Noir. Wrong here, as good — it all guilty. Have all your reasons, principles and weak.

Otto Preminger perfectly conveyed the atmosphere of "sin city" filled with intrigue, lies, deceit and unfulfilled childhood dreams. The reincarnation of the Duo of gene Tierney and Dana Andrews only enhances the interest in film.

Think it was inspiration for many police officers of militants, including the "Bad COP" and"Fireworks" Takeshi Kitano, "Snitch" by Melville, "Bad Lieutenant" Abel Ferrara.

In summary: stylish Noir with Danai Andrews and gene Tierney in the title role. All a bit predictable, but it — not plot and style, which creates Otto Preminger.

COP mark Dixon accidentally kills a suspect. It tries to hide it. and put the blame on a mafia boss who has been trying to push. Also, it falls for a girl whose the father is also suspected in the crime.

After 6 years after the success of "Laura" Director Otto Preminger again relieves The Duo of Andrews and gene Tierney. And again we are a classic of the genre. In contrast "Laura" here is a fairly predictable plot, but but in terms of the style of a real Noir, dark and solid.

Painting is one of the first Hollywood films where shows the life and work of ordinary police station. And Dana Andrews created the image of a brutal COP, subsequently replicated in many of the tapes. It looks great as a in the drama, so and romantic scenes. Gene Tierney is good as always. Although here it is a rather minor role Karl Malden plays a harsh COP to become a Lieutenant and headed the Department, which is the Dixon. Gary Merrill creates the image of a gangster, devoid of the slightest charm and appeal.

Classic Noir, which same one of the first police thrillers.

Known for their brutality COP Dixon accidentally kills a key witness. To get rid of the body is easier than to silence the conscience.

The genre of "Noir" in the 1950s started a few to change, but was still popular — and for some time it will. In fact, "Where the sidewalk ends" — there begins Noir; to go with the track is possible only in the darkness. Actually, it's probably too easy movie — but the simple can only be a decisive blow in the fight. No superfluous words or movements — Bang, you the blades.

While I watched this movie, often thought of as he needs a remake. For example, the main scene of the film (Dixon tries to get rid of the dead and not to fall under the suspicion) similar to the first series of "One night" — like a chill runs through the back when the hero is close to fail. And ease of directing the chill makes only colder. Partner, standing in the other end of the room, says Dixon to see did the guy thing of the Cabinet — Dixon opens the door and looks at guy who killed in the closet hidden. Yes, Dixon says, there is empty. And we do not show any person Dixon or blue corpse, nor the simpleton partner; not change plan or installation; not the music sounds tight.

Gravity "Where the sidewalk ends" competes with the seriousness of his main character. This movie is not may end differently than the scenes of the slamming door.
