Champion

A movie about the sport, which is not is to win or lose.

The character Kirk Douglas in this film — people nerves of steel and an iron will, and the same time the rascal. Maniacal desire to win at any cost — if not quality of the athlete? Tank-man, which is nothing will stop (and it like before). If path target the enemy — it will be swept away, if each — it is better to leave voluntarily, if a woman — soon waiting for great disappointment. The end justifies the means — is one case. And it is this very ambiguous character makes the film not typical of the genre. Because here is not a simple man rising up in sport — here is the champion of birth, who conquered many hearts with his personality, and he often not noticing heart breaks. No here and typical revelations of the main character with the consequent revaluation of values (what typical modern cinema). The viewer himself may decide who he soul — "Superman" who causes pain, or, say, its brother, which is always kept in the shade, but comes forward in order to support others and to help.

The film is good not only Boxing fans. This is a strong drama that have for the sake of perfectly written characters worth watching.

How many films with kirk Douglas — film "champion" raises profound American archetypes. In this case, quite a textbook example, — success is a rough boxer, examines the American myth about a Man who made himself.

Douglas perfectly illustrates the moral devastation of a man who has achieved success through the loss of internal reference points.

The film looks very easily. But, on my taste, inhospitable moral tendency in the end of the movie was unnecessary.
